S-hydroxylation (-SOH) of cysteine thiol side chains at active and allosteric sites within proteins is emerging as a central post-translational modification.  Similar to phosphorylation, S-hydroxylation is a dynamic and labile modification, which plays significant roles in physiological and pathophysiological events.

TargAnox is developing proprietary platforms to identify and characterize the redox-active thiol proteome. Leveraging our discovery of novel regulatory mechanisms involving cysteine oxidation, we are taking a rational design approach toward the development of Targeted Allosteric Redox Modulators (TARMs). Through the development of preclinical TARMs, TargAnox is uniquely focused on capturing the therapeutic potential of regulating protein redox states.
